Q:Where are the train stations located at Brisbane Airport?
A:

The Domestic train station is located outside the domestic terminal. Make your way to the Skywalk (covered walkway) to access the Airtrain station and ticket office. There are escalators, travelators and lifts from the ground level of the Domestic Airport for access.

The International train station is located on Level 3 of the Airport terminal, via a covered walkway.

Q:Can I purchase tickets at the Airtrain stations on the day of Travel?
A:

All Airtrain products are available for purchase at the airport stations for same day travel. However, 24 hours' notice is required for the AirtrainConnect service starting from the Gold Coast as this service involves a chauffeur driven vehicle pickup that requires booking in advance.

Q:Can I purchase tickets to the airport from my local train station online?
A:

Airtrain's E-Tickets can be purchased online for travel from any station to and from the airport. Simply print your bar-code ticket before you travel and have it with you when travelling or upload the E-Ticket to your Smartphone using the link in the confirmation email.

Q:What forms of payment are accepted?
A:

Airtrain ticket offices accept Cash, Debit Cards, Visa Pay Wave, American Express, MasterCard, Visa & Cab Charge.

Q:What are Airtrain's operating Days and Times?
A:

Airtrain operates seven days a week. The Domestic and International train Stations are staffed and open from 4:50am weekdays and 5:50 weekends until the last train at 10:04pm every day of the year.

Q:What timetable is used for Public Holidays?
A:

The Sunday Timetable is used for Public Holidays, with the Exception of Christmas day where trains operate every 30 minutes to Brisbane City and hourly to the Gold Coast.

Times are advised on the Airtrain website approx. one month before.

Q:How often do trains depart from the Brisbane airport?
A:

Trains depart every 15 minutes in peak periods and depart every 30 minutes in non-peak, Monday to Friday. All services on Saturday & Sunday operate every 30 minutes. Please refer to the online Airtrain Timetable for a full list of departure and arrival times.

Q:Do I receive a ticket when I book online?
A:

Yes. You will receive an email with an E-Ticket attached which can be printed for scanning at either the airport, city station and Gold Coast stations or use the link for uploading your E-Ticket to your Smart Phone.

Please Note: Airtrain do not confirm a train time when you book online. Your ticket is valid for any train service on the date booked.

Q:What is an E-Ticket (print at home)?
A:

When tickets are purchased online with Airtrain, an E-Ticket is issued. A bar-coded ticket with a Booking reservation number will be sent by email once the online purchase has been completed. This ticket can either be printed at home and presented to the station staff to be scanned as a valid ticket for travel, or uploaded using the link in the email to your smartphone for scanning.

Q:The E-Ticket I bought has my name on it. Can someone else use it?
A:

Yes. The Airtrain E-Tickets are fully transferable.

Q:How long does my E-Ticket remain valid?
A:

The E-Ticket remains valid for 2 days from travel date on ticket.

Q:I have made a purchase online for an E-Ticket, can I cancel the booking?
A:

Bookings cannot be cancelled online, however you may email reservations@airtrain.com.au to request a cancellation.

Q:Is it possible to get a refund on my E-Ticket?
A:

Refunds are permitted under certain circumstances - See Cancellation and Refunds for more information in our Terms and Conditions.

Q:Why have I not received a confirmation email?
A:

Your confirmation email should arrive within 10 minutes. If it takes longer than this, please email reservations@airtrain.com.au or call freecall 1800 119 091 and quote your reservation number so the confirmation can be re-sent.

Q:Is there a 10% discount for children if I book online?
A:

All children travel free between the airport and city stations. The fare charged on the web site is the Translink portion of the fare and does not have a 10% discount.

Q:I haven't received my email confirmation. What do I do?
A:

If it hasn't arrived after 1 hour and isn't in your junk mail folder Contact Us

Q:Will I have to change trains to get to my destination?
A:

If you are travelling to or from the Gold Coast or Brisbane City, you are not required to change trains. When travelling from QLD Rail suburban stations to or from the Brisbane Airport, you will be required to change trains, refer to the Translink journey planner for details.

Q:Do you offer a door to door service from Brisbane Airport to Gold Coast Accommodation?
A:

The service is called AirtrainConnect which includes the train to the Gold Coast station and a chauffeured vehicle transfer to your Gold Coast Accommodation or residential addresses.

Q:What is required to qualify for a family fare?
A:

The family fare applies when 2 adults and 2 children (aged 5yrs -14yrs) are travelling together.

Q:What is the age range for a child fare?
A:

The Child fare applies for children aged 5yrs-14yrs (inclusive). Children under 4 years travel at no charge. If you are travelling with infants using the AirtrainConnect service, you will be asked whether you require a booster seat or baby capsule when you arrive.

Q:I am travelling to the Gold Coast using AirtrainConnect and I'll have my surfboard with me. Is this a problem?
A:

Most oversize luggage such as prams, wheelchairs, golf clubs or pushbikes can be catered for. Just ensure you inform staff when you arrive at the airport so that we can provide an appropriate vehicle to accommodate the luggage.

Q:What concession cards does Airtrain accept?
A:

Concession fares are not accepted for travel between Brisbane Airport and Brisbane City stations. Customers travelling to or from Brisbane suburban stations, the following cards are accepted.

  • Students - QLD full time school student
  • Post-Secondary and Post-Graduate students
  • Tertiary Transport Card
  • Australian Pensioners Card
  • Australian Seniors Card
  • Companion Card

Q:Is there room for luggage on the train?
A:

Airtrain services are equipped with luggage racks. Most oversize luggage such as prams, golf clubs and pushbikes can be catered for. Train carriages also have fold-away seating for wheelchairs.

Q:Can I use a Go Card on the Airtrain?
A:

Yes you can use a Go Card at both the Domestic and International Airport stations.

Q:What Go Card facilities are available at the Airtrain stations?
A:

You can top-up, receive a balance and obtain a refund on the Go Card at the Domestic and International Airport stations. This can be performed at the Ticket Vending Machine and at the Airtrain ticket windows.

Q:Can I purchase a Go Card at the Airtrain Stations?
A:

Adult, Concession and Child Go Cards can be purchased at the Airport stations. They require a minimum amount of $30.

Q:Do I get a discount when using my Go Card on Airtrain?
A:

Please see www.translink.com.au for the fares charged by Translink when using a Go Card to travel.

Q:How do I get to the Airport Village & Direct Factory Outlet (DFO)?
A:

You can catch the Airtrain to the International Airport and to use the free courtesy bus located on level 4 to travel to the DFO. See www.bne.com.au for details.

Q:Are lockers available at Brisbane Airport?
A:

Lockers are available at both the International & Domestic Airports; refer to Brisbane Airport Corporation for details. There are also lockers available at Roma Street station in Brisbane City.

Q:Can animals travel on the train?
A:

For the safety and comfort of passengers, animals are not permitted on any Queensland Rail train service, even if they are in travel cases. With the exception of guide, hearing or assistance dogs that are trained and registered in accordance to the Guide, Hearing and Assistance Dogs Act 2009.

Q:Are Airport stations Wheelchair accessible?
A:

The Airtrain stations at the Airport were purposely built to accommodate wheelchairs, the train and platform levels are even making it easy access to and from the trains. Lifts are also provided on both the Domestic and International Airport stations.

Q:Is Airtrain a part of Queensland Rail?
A:

Airtrain is a privately owned and operated company, who works very closely with Queensland Rail to provide a safe, reliable and cost effective service to and from the Brisbane Airport.

Q:How much CO2 emissions do I save by using the Airtrain?
A:

Airtrain is serious about the environmental benefits of using the train to get to the airport. Our emission savings are calculated by analyzing every ticket sold and the track distance from the airport to the QLD Rail station. For example; from Brisbane International Station to Central station, a journey length of 14.44kms you will save 0.43kg CO2 emissions.

OPERATING HOURS

First train from Airport city and goldcoast bound departs at 5:04am. First train to Airport from the GoldCoast departs at 4:10am and from city 4:27am. Please check train timetable for our weekend service.
*Kids aged 14 and under travel free when accompanied with paying adult to Brisbane CBD only.
