Do you have an outrageous story about traffic in Brisbane that caused you to miss your flight or had the pleasure of receiving an unpleasant surprise on the cab meter? Why not tell us about it. The Missed Flight Lounge is where you can vent your anger at Brisbane's traffic, or tell us why you wish you had caught the Airtrain.

Post a journal to the lounge

 Airtrain saved my ass!

I was in a cab travelling to the airport for an international flight when the radio announced that traffic was blocked to access Brisbane Airport. The cabbie dropped me at Eagle Jn station and I looked out the train window at a traffic nightmare.

Thank god for the cabbie and also for airtrain - I was checking in only 10 minutes later. Heaps of people missed the flight but not me!

I will always use Airtrain from now on.

 ERM.

NEED LATER TRAINS! Definitely, planes run later than that, so therefore the trains should too. Take a leaf from Melbourne's books.... buses there meet planes at all hours!

Can we do anything about late taxis?

I was all prepared to go on my trip and booked a taxi 1 1/2 hours before my domestic connecting flight was to leave. After 3 "He'll be there in 3 minutes call". The Black and White taxi arrived 40 minutes later, just as I was backing my car out to drive and dump my car at Hamilton.. in desperation to get to the airport myself.

All in all, a jammed Brisbane Gateway, Bunged up Kingsford Smith, and a kindly connection from Qantas later (thanks Qantas). I rushed my bag off the carousel at Melbourne, to find the check-in at Jetstar International Closed. 15mins ago.

Cost me over $1200.00 more to get new a flight out. Arrrrgh.

 Conspiracy Perhaps?

Make the roundabout and subsequent traffic so bad that the airtrain is finally carrying more than just Air! Ah if only it ran more than daylight hours though-gee that would be forward thinking now!

Provide a Useful Service to Brisbane, not just the coast.

One can only assume that QR has blocked Airtrain from providing a service from more stations on the Beenleigh line. It remains ridiculous and unreasonable that the tens of thousands of people who live near stations between Loganlea and Yeerongpilly cannot catch the Airtrain as it goes past, but must instead make an inconvenient and time-consuming connection via an often-packed commuter train designed to get people into town rather than to the airport. Even a few more stops would be a big help, thus bringing a reasonable taxi-fare into the equation; I suggest Kuraby, Sunnybank and Salisbury, or at least one of these.

 Story and Idea

I just got off a virgin blue flight from sydney at around 7:10pm and just got my luggage at 7:20pm (At least they can hurry the baggage along) I just got outside and was halfway up the lift when the last airtrain to Brisbane departed....(you didn't want to be near me at that moment) anyway

It would be nice if airtrain asked QR if they could run occasional services from Cleveland and Ipswich to the airport rather than just the Gold Coast line and all airport services could connect with Caboolture and Shorncliffe services at Eagle Junction

 Last train too early

Guys, you really need to revise your schedule. The last train is way too early.

caught in traffic and missed the plane

We left in plenty of time, but it only took one accident on the Gateway to turn it all "pear shape". We missed the flight, then had to wait another four hours for the next available flight.
Friends called to tell me that it took another 3/4 hour to get back to the Gateway Roundabout.
That is why I'm on this website to check out the Airtrain option when we return. Brisbane traffic is hell.
Take the train and don't miss the plane.

 Mr

Personally, I support Airtrain and use it whenever travelling to / from the airport - it's way better than battling traffic and much more economical than taxis, without a doubt. The other afternoon after returning from Adelaide, however, I was annoyed by the inane "Whooo - ooo" messages: since when have trains in Australia ever gone "Whooo - ooo"? And the voice of the announcer - spare us! The other bugbear - for me - was having to endure the equally inane ramblings of the Triple-M announcers and being battered by what apparently passes for music.
