Brisbane's Airtrain Home

Airtrain is a privately owned and operated railway that commenced operations in May 2001. We have a license from Queensland Transport to build, own, operate and transfer (BOOT Scheme) the Brisbane Airport Rail Link for 35 years. Airtrain owns 8.5 kilometres of elevated railway and two stations at Brisbane Airport.

The service is completely integrated into the QR suburban network with trains running from Brisbane Airport directly to Brisbane CBD and on to the Gold Coast. Passengers can travel on a single ticket from any station in south-east Queensland to Brisbane Airport.

Airtrain is not subsidised by the Queensland Government and was built using private funds at a cost of $220 million. The line is Australia’s longest elevated viaduct and was constructed using 250 piers, 1000 girders weighing 90 tonnes each and 21,000 cubic metres of concrete. We have an alliance with Transfield Services (www.transfieldservices.com) who provide operations and maintenance on the Airtrain rail link.

Airtrain has recently been awarded the 2007 CSIA Service Excellence award for the best customer service in Australia for the small business category (click here to visit the Customer Service Institute of Australia). We also won this prestigious award in 2005. This award is recognition that Airtrain offers a high quality level of service for passengers travelling to and from Brisbane Airport. We will continue to look for opportunities to improve the level of service we offer our customers.
