There is no limit to the number of children that can travel free with a paying adult. You can even take an entire school group to or from the airport accompanied by a single adult.

The offer is only available between the Domestic and International Airport stations and City Stations. The list of city stations is Central Station, Roma Street, Fortitude Valley, South Brisbane, Bowen Hills, Albion, Wooloowin and Eagle Junction.

You can still purchase child tickets at all other QR suburban stations and only need to pay the cost of travel to the city, not all the way to the airport.

In order to receive your free child travel, an adult must purchase a paper ticket at the same time as the childs from the airport or an attended QR station. Children will receive free tickets (to/from city stations) for their travel. Each child still needs a valid ticket to travel on the QR train network.

Unaccompanied Children

Children that will be travelling to and from the airport without an adult will still be required to purchase a ticket from a QR station. The ticket purchased will cover the entire distance to the Airport, but will be calculated using only the Translink zones travelled. The Airtrain portion of the fare will be free of charge.

Unattended Stations and go card

If you are travelling from a QR station that is unattended your child's ticket needs to be purchased from a ticket vending machine, or their go card can be used. In this case, the fare will be for the Translink zones travelled (even from city stations). The Airtrain portion of the fare will be free of charge.

Savings on AirtrainConnect

We've reduced the rates on our AirtrainConnect service for children and families. With our family fare (2 adults and 2 children), both of the children are now free. AirtrainConnect involves a train transfer to the Gold Coast and a chauffeured vehicle to your Gold Coast Accommodation.

Example Fares

		An adult purchases their paper ticket and a childs ticket to the Airport from the Central Station ticket office. The child's ticket would be free.
		An adult or child purchases a child ticket to the Airport from a ticket vending machine at Roma Street station (or uses the child's go card). The fare value of the ticket would be for Translink zones 1-2 (Roma Street to Eagle Junction). The Airtrain fare portion is free.
		A child ticket is purchased from Caboolture station to the Airport (paper ticket, ticket vending machine or go card). The fare value of the ticket would be for Translink zones 8-2 (Caboolture to Eagle Junction). The Airtrain fare portion is free.
		A child ticket is purchased from Ipswich station to the Airport (paper ticket, ticket vending machine or go card). The fare value of the ticket would be for Translink zones 7-1 (Ipswich to Roma Street). The Airtrain fare portion is free.
