Lifts
In addition to travellators, lifts are available to help move between the Domestic and International Terminals and Airtrain stations.
Platforms
The platform at Airtrain Domestic and International stations is purpose-built to accommodate passengers requiring wheelchair access, with the platform level with the train for easy access. Platform gap fillers have also been installed at all high-traffic and assisted boarding doors for increased safety. Work is currently underway for all doors to have platform gap fillers by late 2024.
Bathrooms
There are dedicated accessible bathrooms at Airtrain Domestic and International stations. These bathrooms feature automatic swing door operators, push buttons to open/close and privacy locks.
Hearing loop
T-Loop systems with braille translation are available at all Airtrain ticketing offices to boost the listening experience for those with hearing loss or who use a hearing aid.
Assisted boarding point
Airtrain coordinates with Queensland Rail to ensure safe departure from all stations. For travel to Brisbane Airport, all Queensland Rail stations have an assisted boarding point on the platform. This point is indicated by a blue and white symbol for accessibility and is located near the middle section of the platform. For more information, visit Queensland Rail.
Companion Card holders
For passengers with a Companion Card, Airtrain allows one carer to travel free between Brisbane Airport and Brisbane City and suburban stations when travelling with the Companion Card holder. The Companion Card holder must have a valid Airtrain ticket to travel.
Cérge Companion is available at Airtrain Domestic and International stations. Cérge Companion is a tool for people with disabilities that lets you access information about the venue you plan to go to and help you get the customer service you deserve.
Dedicated webpages for Airtrain stations at the Domestic Terminal and International Terminal provide customers with all the information they need to feel more confident and empowered before they arrive the station, with an interactive 360 degree virtual tour, visual story and sensory guide, audio guide, key word sign board, communication board and more.
Airtrain has adopted the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower to help support and raise awareness of those living with a hidden disability. The Hidden Disabilities Sunflower is a tool for people to voluntary share that they have a disability or condition that may not be immediately apparent, and that they may need more understanding, patience and assistance when going about their daily lives – including in public spaces and on transport.
Sunflower lanyards and wristbands are made available to passengers with a hidden disability as a subtle way of letting others know that they may require additional support, assistance or a bit more time. In addition, Airtrain staff have been trained to identify the Sunflower, gain a deeper understanding of nonvisible disabilities and learn how to support Sunflower wearers. For more information, visit Hidden Disabilities Sunflower.

🧠Brain cancer awareness month – the facts
May is brain cancer awareness month – a time to spread awareness, show support and raise funds for life-saving research.
Did you know that brain cancer can affect anyone, at any age? In fact, it’s the sixth leading cause of cancer burden in Australia with around 2,000 people diagnosed each year. It’s the ninth most common cause of cancer death among Australian adults and leading cause of cancer death in children aged 0 to 14 years. And while survival rates for many other cancers have increased over the last 30 years, survival rates for brain tumours have barely improved.
