All aboard! Next stop: Roma Street Station

Arriving at Roma Street Station puts you right on the edge of some of Brisbane’s most iconic green spaces, cultural attractions and historic landmarks. As the city’s largest and busiest transport hub, the station connects suburban, regional and interstate rail services in the heart of the city. Thanks to redevelopment in recent years, the area has been transformed into a significant entertainment, lifestyle and transport destination for Brisbane. There’s plenty of Roma Street attractions to discover the moment you step off the train, and Airtrain gets you there directly from Brisbane Airport.

Roma Street Station attractions

Roma Street Parkland

Just steps away from the station lies Roma Street Parkland, one of the world’s largest subtropical gardens located in a city centre and a must-visit Roma Street attraction for locals and tourists alike. The parkland makes for the perfect break from the urban buzz of the CBD, filled with lush rainforest walks, colourful flower displays, open lawns and peaceful lakeside paths. Visitors can wander through themed garden areas, enjoy a picnic on the rolling lawns or simply take in the city skyline from one of the many scenic lookouts. The parkland also hosts outdoor events, fitness classes and seasonal performances throughout the year.

Suncorp Stadium

A short walk from the station brings you to Suncorp Stadium, one of Australia’s premier sporting and entertainment venues. The stadium regularly hosts major rugby league, rugby union and football matches, along with international concerts and large-scale live events. On game days, the atmosphere around Roma Street comes alive as crowds gather in nearby pubs and restaurants before making their way from the station to the stadium.

Historical sites

Among the area’s lesser-known Roma Street attractions are several fascinating heritage landmarks. Nearby Spring Hill is home to The Old Windmill, the oldest surviving building in Queensland, and King Edward Park, one of Brisbane’s oldest public parks with heritage landscaping and scenic city views. Not far from the station, history enthusiasts can also explore grand civic icons like Brisbane City Hall and Anzac Square.
