The hardest part will be choosing how to spend your 48 hours!

Morning activities for couples

Stroll along the coast

Nothing says romance like a leisurely stroll along the coast walking hand-in-hand. Start your day right with walk along Burleigh Headland Walk for panoramic ocean views and the chance to spot local wildlife. Afterwards, take a refreshing dip in the crystal-clear waters of Burleigh Beach or grab a takeaway coffee from a nearby cafe to enjoy from the golden sands.

Fly high in the sky

Enjoy breathtaking views on your Gold Coast weekend from the heights of a hot air balloon. You can float like a cloud as you witness the spectacular early morning sunshine over the Gold Coast and surrounding hinterland. Check out Hot Air for loads of exciting ballooning options with special add-ons like breakfast and sparkling wine.

Watch the whales

The Gold Coast is known for being an excellent place to witness the migration of whales as they travel south to Antarctica between June and October, so why not make it part of your romantic weekend away? You can try to spot a whale from afar from one of several vantage points like North Burleigh Lookout, The Spit or Point Danger, or book a whale watching cruise to get up close.

Afternoon activities for couples

Indulge at a spa

The Gold Coast is a well-known destination for luxury treatments, and what better way to spend an afternoon than getting pampered with your significant other? Treat yourself to a massage, facial or sauna at one of many popular spa facilities in the city, like Spa by JW at JW Marriott Resort & Spa or Chuan Spa at The Langham. For a unique eco-retreat, head to the hinterland and check out Greenhouse Bathhouse or Eden Health Retreat both in Tallebudgera Valley.

Chill out at a beachside precinct

Visit beachside precinct Cali Beach for a fun and relaxing afternoon with everything you could possibly need in the one place. There’s no shortage of things to do at Australia’s largest day and night luxury beachside precinct – chill out on a day bed by the pool, grab a cocktail at the rooftop bar or dance the afternoon away at one of the many performances.

Do a tasting at a local winery

After all that relaxing, it’s time to quench your thirst. Fortunately, the Gold Coast is home to a number of renowned wineries where you can enjoy a blissful afternoon tasting local wines while enjoying the stunning views. Among the Gold Coast’s charming wineries, our favourites are Witches Falls Winery, Cedar Creek Estate Vineyard and Winery, and O’Reilly’s Canungra Valley Vineyards.

Evening activities for couples

Cruise as the sun sets

For an intimate setting on your Gold Coast weekend, watch the sun dip below the horizon from the water. A romantic sunset cruise along the Gold Coast waterways offers a unique and unforgettable way to soak in the natural beauty. Make it extra special for your better half by adding on extras like champagne and a gourmet meal.

Treat yourself to a tipple

The Gold Coast has a host of bespoke rooftop bars and hidden speakeasys that all deliver the laidback coastal vibe the city is known for. Take in the stunning rooftop views from The Exhibitionist or QT Gold Coast, or get transported as you immerse yourself at one of many speakeasy and secret bars like Veladora, Roosevelt Lounge or Lockwood Bar.

Dine like royalty

From candlelit dinners to dreamy locales, let the Gold Coast set the stage for your romantic dinner. Indulge in the finest modern Mediterranean cuisine at La Luna Dining, woo your date with award-winning food and wine by the waterfront at Glass Dining & Loung Bar, or if you can’t decide on a single restaurant head to The Star for a wide range of refined dining and casual dining options.
