Track work on the Brisbane City and Gold Coast Line

Due to Cross River Rail construction works, all Airtrain services to and from the Brisbane City and Gold Coast will be affected by track work between Roma Street and Altandi stations and between Beenleigh and Varsity Lakes stations on Saturday 13^th April 2024.

Before travelling we recommend you plan your journey using the Translink journey planner, find your station’s rail replacement bus stop location, and allow extra travel time for your journey. For more information on this service impact click here to visit the TransLink website or call 13 12 30.

Travelling to Brisbane Airport  

• Gold Coast and Beenleigh travel:  All trains from the Gold Coast will be stopping at all stops between Varsity lakes and Banoon station. Trains will depart 5 minutes later than the normal timetable between Varsity Lakes and Ormeau stations, and 7 to 15 minutes later between Beenleigh and Altandi stations. This train will terminate at Banoon station where customers will disembark and travel by an Express rail replacement bus to Eagle Junction station or to Roma Street station to catch a connecting train to the Airport.

• • • The Express rail replacement bus (R701) will run between Banoon and Eagle Junction.
    • The rail replacement bus (R584) will run between Banoon and Roma Street station (stopping only at South Bank, South Brisbane and Roma Street stations)
    • If you are travelling between Banoon and Park Road station, catch all stops rail replacement bus (R591) to Roma Street station and then transfer to the train at Roma Street station to travel to the Airport.

TRAVEL TIP: When travelling on the rail replacement bus, place your luggage on the seat next to   you or under the seat so it is within easy reaching distance. You may also ask your bus driver for ramp assistance when entering or exiting the bus to assist with your luggage.  

• Brisbane City travel: If you are travelling from South Brisbane, South Bank, or Park Road stations catch the Shorncliffe line or Ferny Grove line train and transfer at Roma Street station to travel to the Airport.
• Shorncliffe travel: Catch a rail replacement bus between Shorncliffe and Northgate station, then transfer to a train service at Northgate station to Eagle Junction station to catch a connecting train to the Airport.

TRAVEL TIP: When travelling on the rail replacement bus, place your luggage on the seat next to   you or under the seat so it is within easy reaching distance. You may also ask your bus driver for ramp assistance when entering or exiting the bus to assist with your luggage.  

• Caboolture, Sunshine Coast, Redcliffe Peninsula, Doomben travel: These services are not impacted, change trains at Eagle Junction station to the Airport. (Note: Doomben line does not operate on Sunday)
• Ferny Grove travel: This service is not impacted, change trains at Bowen Hills station to the Airport.
• Cleveland, Springfield, Ipswich, Rosewood travel: These services are not impacted, change trains at Roma Street station to the Airport.

Travelling from Brisbane Airport 

• Gold Coast and Beenleigh travel: All trains to the Gold Coast will terminate at Roma Street station. Trains will arrive 9 minutes earlier from Altandi station, and 1 to 4 minutes earlier than the normal timetable between Loganlea and Varsity Lakes stations.

• • • If you are travelling to the Gold Coast you can either catch the Express rail replacement bus (R701) from Eagle Junction station to Banoon station for connecting train services to your destination.
    • If you are travelling between Park Road and Banoon stations, catch all stops rail replacement bus (R591) from Roma Street station to travel to your destination.
