Travel to the GC500 Supercars with Airtrain

Catch all the adrenaline, action, and acceleration at the Boost Mobile GC500 Supercars this October. It’s held annually on the world famous Gold Coast, with its stunning backdrop of lush hinterland, sparkling beaches, and soaring cityscape.

This year, Supercars return to the Gold Coast streets for Round 12 of the Repco Supercars Championship. Over three days of excitement and events, you’ll be able to catch the action while enjoying all the Gold Coast has to offer.

The Event

It’s one of the premiere motorsport racing events in Australia. Thousands of visitors from near and far flock to the Gold Coast for the party atmosphere and incredible displays of skill, speed, and power.

It’s a short track, needing plenty of laps – you’ll see the cars coming over and over again. The track has been designed for easy viewing from multiple vantage points, so you won’t have to wait until you’re part of the action.

Kicking off on the 28th of October, get set for 3 days of high-powered entertainment. There are so many race categories, as well as trackside events that let you get up close to the action. To whet your appetite, check out some of the highlights from the last 2019 season here.

The Entertainment

It’s all about the race – but there’s a party going on behind the scenes, and you’re invited! Catch world-class music acts, entertainment, and once-in-a-lifetime experiences for adrenaline junkies. Check out Merch Alley to buy your supporter gear, jump on a helicopter ride, catch thrilling entertainment on the Nerang River including flyboard, jet ski and wakeboard stunt demonstrations, and see the world’s best professional FMX and BMX riders perform spectacular and death-defying stunts, together with high performance Australian Defence Force land vehicles on display in Ferny Avenue.

To keep the atmosphere pumping, some of Australia’s hottest DJs and international stars will hit the Club 500 stage on Macintosh Island on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday evening of October’s event. You’ll be able to dance along to Bliss n Eso, Carl Cox & Eric Powell’s Mobile Disco, and Sneaky Sound System.

GC500 Supercars and Kids

Anyone of any age can have the time of their lives at the GC500 Supercars, but there are some special concessions that make it easier to get the whole family in on the action. Kids 12 and under can get access to the trackside free with a paying adult. They’ll love the action-packed events and experiences on offer, making it a weekend to remember.

There are also some great activities for the kids,  such as the SuperKids Zone – a fully fenced and secure area designed exclusively for parents and little people to relax, play, and test their racing abilities. After your Airtrain journey, kids can also travel free on G:Link Trams, Surfside buses, and Queensland Rail City Network trains with an adult who has valid pre-purchased entry tickets.

Getting around on the Gold Coast

Start your journey with Airtrain. Once you arrive at the Brisbane Airport, we’ll be waiting to transport you into Brisbane City and beyond with our Gold Coast connections.

The Airtrain leaves the Brisbane Airport every 15 minutes in peak times, and can take you all the way to Helensvale in comfort and on time. From there, heading to the Gold Coast is a simple change onto the G:link tram, which arrives every 7.5 minutes in peak times.

You’ll only need the one Airtrain ticket to get all the way from the airport to your Gold Coast destination.  After your Airtrain journey, your valid, pre-purchased GC500 Supercars ticket entitles you to free travel on G:link trams, Surfside buses, and Queensland Rail City Network trains during the events. Kids 12 and under can travel for free on those public transport services when they are with an adult who is in possession of a valid entry ticket.

Travelling Around the Gold Coast

Once you have arrived, you can use a smart card for travel, or you can purchase a paper ticket. Visitors should check out the go seeQ card, which allows you unlimited travel for 3 or 5 consecutive days on buses, trains, ferries, and trams. It also includes 2 Airtrain journeys to/from the Brisbane Airport. The go explore smartcard allows you travel in the Gold Coast or Sunshine Coast for up to 8 days, but you don’t have to use them consecutively.

You can easily get around with a go card – just touch on at your station of departure and touch off when you arrive at your destination. The go card is accepted on all Translink transport throughout Greater Brisbane, Ipswich, Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast.
