Riverfire | 3rd Sep

The celebration is designed to kick off the start of the Brisbane Festival, and it does so with a bang – quite literally! There will be ADF displays from 5pm, and the fireworks start from 7pm.

Nitro World Games | 22-23 Oct

The Nitro World Games is coming to Brisbane, bringing the ultimate in adrenaline based sport to the Suncorp Stadium. Watch BMX, FMX, Skate, and Scooter champs bust their best moves, live and breath-taking. Go Saturday, Sunday, or both to catch international athletes push the limits on human achievement. Brisbane International Film Festival | 27 Oct – 6 Nov

For the last 30 years, Brisbane’s annual Film Festival brings cinematic masterpieces together from around the world. You’ll see movie screenings, panel discussions, documentaries and more, at a range of venues in Brisbane. Keep your finger on the pulse of truly incredible film, both local and international. Virtus Oceania Asia Games 2022 | 5-11 November 2022

This November, Brisbane will host some of the world’s most elite athletes with an intellectual impairment at the Virtus Oceania Asia Games 2022. Around 1000 incredible sportspeople and officials from Asia, the Pacific and New Zealand will compete in the following sports: athletics, badminton, basketball, cycling, judo, rowing, sailing, swimming, table tennis, taekwondo, tennis & triathlon. Some of these athletes will continue on to represent their country in the Paralympic games.

Music

Some of the biggest names from around the world will visit Brisbane and make it an unbeatable bucket list stop. This year alone will see Guns ‘N Roses, Justin Bieber, Slash, and Kiss among the incredible performers who will be gracing the stage in Brisbane and the Gold Coast. Sport

Brisbane is known for its strong sporting culture, and there are a whole host of teams from different codes that call the incredible stadiums home. This year, the Socceroos and the Matildas will be playing major international clashes against some top teams. The AFL is winding down with the deciding finals, and the AFLW is in full swing. Check out the rugby union, rugby league, cricket, and more – there are so many events to join in on. The major sporting stadiums of Brisbane are the Suncorp Stadium and the ‘Gabba, with the CBUS Stadium and the Metricon just a short journey away in the Gold Coast. Art and Culture

The South Bank Cultural Precinct is the place to be for the main bucket list artistic events. Check out GOMA and the Brisbane Gallery of Modern Art, and stroll through the Queensland Museum and visit some of the world-class travelling exhibitions that stop off in Brisbane. You can head on over to QPAC as well, for some performing arts that will create life-long memories. Getting Around

With Airtrain, you will arrive quickly and comfortably from the airport to Brisbane City in 20 minutes. You can disembark at your chosen city station – Airtrain runs express from the airport, but stops at Fortitude Valley, Central, Roma Street, and South Brisbane stations. Just check out TransLink’s Journey Planner to work out the best way to arrive by public transport, or you can always Uber to where you need to go. 

While you’re in Brisbane, short term visitors  should check out the go seeQ card, which allows you unlimited travel for three or five consecutive days on buses, trains, ferries, and trams. It also includes two Airtrain journeys to/from the Brisbane Airport. 

For longer stays, travel like the locals with a go card – just touch on at your station of departure and touch off when you arrive at your destination.
